Set at the crest of rolling pasture, Glenayr Farmhouse is conceived as a simple, shed-like structure embedded in the land. A working home, studio, and shed sit beneath one roof, with spaces opening as quiet alcoves rather than defined rooms. Thresholds dissolve, from the suspended door frame to a sunken bath that reads as one with the fields beyond. Crafted from local timber, stone, and steel in close collaboration with regional tradesmen, the project is as much a product of its place as its intention. Winner of the 2025 Southern Architecture Awards Housing category, shortlisted for the NZIA National Awards.
